Fishing Resorts

What is a fishing Resort?

A fishing Resort is a resort that exist primarily for the reason to provide vacationers the ability to comfortably stay at some of the best fishing spots in the world. Whether you are staying in the bahamas and catching sailfish or staying in British Colombia trying to catch King Salmon, fishing resorts are always close to the action. Most the time you can get great rates during the beginning and end of the fishing season. Shop around and make sure you look into booking a great local fishing guide. While most Fishing Resorts are great for accomodations, they usually don't provide as good of a fishing experience. So before you book a room, find a good local guide and make sure they are free to take you during your vacation time. Especially if you have the flexibility to move your schedule a little to ensure your guide will have availablility. Then either ask the guide or look around for a great resort nearby. This approach may sound unconventional but if fishing is what you have in mind it makes sense to ensure the guides know what they are doing and depend on it. Buy booking seperately you ensure the resort does what it does best and the guide does what they do best, FISH!

Picking the right Guide!

Picking the right guide can be a challenge. Knowledge is power in this game. Find a guide that seems extremely knowledgable about the area. He or she should be able to tell which spots are good and which ones are not. They should be able to explain their bait choices and why. They should also know the various depths to set the lines to and be able to give you a rundown of how they got the knowledge. Good fishing stories can be very telling. If they mention how they had to modify weights, lines, hooks, bait, time of day, temperature, and any other details about the area the better the chance that you have found a good guide.

Ask about the boat!

Most people don't think about the boat. They are probably grateful they are able to go on a dream vacation and don't bother to worry about how big or comfortable the boat is. The problem is when you are out fishing for several hours you eventually need to go to the restroom. You also may want to sit down on nice chairs after reeling in a large fish and your arms are recovering. Either way try to get in boats that are at least 25' to 26' long and include a bathroom. It may be a small detail now, but when your out fishing its the one of the biggest.
